Aviation Law Seminar, Federal High Court Judges
Aviation Law Seminar for Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria held at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State on the 16th – 17th April, 2012.

The Seminar was sponsored by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in association with Federal High Court of Nigeria and Institute of Air and Space Law, McGill University Montreal, Canada.

Papers presented cut across the broad spectrum of Aviation Law touching on the Chicago Convention, Cape Town Convention and other Conventions and Protocols on Aviation. There were also papers on “Open Skies”, Aviation Safety, Air Carrier liability, Air Traffic liability, Aircraft Finance and Registration of Security Interests, Aviation Insurance and the Role of Judges in Enhancing Aviation Laws.

Key resource persons were:

- Prof. Paul S. Dempsey,Tomlinson Professor of Global Governance in Air and Space Law and Director of the Institute of Air and Space Law at McGill University, in Montreal, Canada.

- Mrs Anastasia A. Gbem Company Secretary and Legal Adviser to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)

- Dr. Yaw Nyampong, a post-doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Air and Space Law, Montreal, Canada.

- Mr Kehinde A. Bello, DGM, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc., Lagos Nigeria.

- Prof. Ademola Popoola, Dean faculty of Law, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

The Seminar was attended by the Honourable Justice Ibrahim N. Auta, Chief Judge Federal High Court of Nigeria and about 20 Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria. In active participation also was Essien E Udom, Esq. Principal Partner in the Law firm of Udom and Udom, Aviation Lawyers and several other industry professionals.
